White blade killer reported in the 17th arrondissement

A new alert has renewed concern over the series of knife attacks that has struck Paris in recent weeks. A man matching the description already given by several witnesses was reportedly seen in the 17th arrondissement.

Descriptions remain imprecise, but one detail recurs: the attacker is said to move with unusual speed and to strike within seconds. The known victims suffered serious, highly localised injuries consistent with the use of a blade.

Investigators remain cautious about whether a single perpetrator is involved. Patrols have nevertheless been increased in the area, and police are asking residents to report any suspicious behaviour.

Criminal profiling specialists have been consulted. One line of inquiry concerns an individual with extensive close combat experience, but officials are not favouring any hypothesis at this stage.
