This week, photographer Marc Delcourt is publishing a series on the Seine embankments and places undergoing change around Notre-Dame. The report was originally due to contain thirty-two images. The final version has only twenty-six. According to the photographer, several images taken around the barge Le Chansonnier were withdrawn at the request of an intermediary connected to the boat’s new owner. Delcourt says he agreed in order to avoid a legal dispute, although he considers the request disproportionate. The photographs mainly showed workers, visitors and several people attending night-time meetings on the embankment. The Fondation Hesperis, which has owned Le Chansonnier since March, says only that it wished to protect the privacy of people who had not been informed of publication. The photographer says he will keep the originals in his archives. His series, entitled Les quais qui changent, will be exhibited next month in a gallery in the 13th arrondissement.
