The Court / Institutional register

OFFICES

Paris does not mechanically reproduce every office known elsewhere. This register is limited to offices whose public existence is established in the Paris Praxis.

01 / Decision

The Prince and the Council carry political decisions; their authority is not interchangeable.

  1. 01

    Prince of Paris

The Prince holds general authority over the Paris Praxis. He guarantees its unity, settles conflicts that lesser authorities cannot resolve and represents Paris before other domains. This pre-eminence does not release the Council or the Offices from their responsibilities.

  2. 02

    Primogen

A Primogen sits on the Council and takes part in governing Paris alongside the Prince. The office carries a recognised political voice, examines the consequences of decisions and mobilises interests that often extend beyond a single Bourg. It replaces no territorial responsibility.

02 / Enforcement

The Prévôt and Milice give effect to decisions without governing a Bourg.

  1. 03

    Prévôt

The Prévôt enforces the decisions of the Praxis and acts when Parisian order requires a direct response. The office answers to the Court, not to any particular Bourg. Its internal procedures are not published in this register.

    Responsibilities not detailed
  2. 04

    Milice

The Milice gives the Praxis a collective capacity for action when surveillance, coercion or protection cannot rest with one official. It acts within the framework set by the Court. Its membership and internal organisation are not published here.

    Responsibilities not detailed

03 / Territory and Peace

The Bourgmestre answers for the Bourg. The Keeper answers for the venue where the Peace of Paris applies.

  1. 05

    Bourgmestre

The Bourgmestre is the territorial authority of the Bourg. The office answers for its balance, arbitrates its uses and carries the consequences of local events before the Court. It confers neither ownership nor independent princedom.

  2. 06

    Keeper of Elysium

The Keeper answers for Elysium and its safety when a place receives the Peace of Paris. The office organises reception, protects exchanges and handles incidents that threaten that peace. Its authority is tied to the Elysium in use and grants no government over the Bourg.
