01 / Major location
Catacombes et carrières de Paris
A second geography of Paris, fragmented and transversal, which surface boundaries cannot adequately describe.
02 / Identity
Discontinuous depths, known in fragments and used by actors none of whom possesses the complete map.
03 / Nocturnal reading
Beneath Paris, the Catacombs, former quarries, technical tunnels, sewers and newer infrastructure do not form a single network. Passages end, access changes and uses overlap. A political boundary that seems obvious above ground may mean nothing a few metres below.
Orlok and the Nosferatu networks know some sectors better than most Kindred. Their knowledge remains fragmented, sometimes old, and tied to specific routes and the people who maintain them. They do not control the whole underground. A passage safe for one person may be sealed, forgotten or unknown to another.
This depth complicates territorial responsibility. Bourgs must cooperate when an incident crosses their boundaries from below, because no authority can handle the whole problem alone. The passages are used to travel, disappear or observe. Knowing one route beneath Paris never means knowing the Paris below.
