Bois de Vincennes

Bois de Vincennes extends its paths, roads and public facilities east of the twelfth arrondissement. Its scale and planted spaces break with the density of nearby neighbourhoods. That sense of distance does not mean the woodland is empty: walkers, staff and varied uses occupy different areas at different hours.

For Les Tours, the woodland marks both a boundary and a continuation towards eastern Paris. Kindred may seek a less direct route or a meeting point away from the main roads. They must still understand actual access and the rhythms of the place. Distance, lighting and attendance change quickly from one area to another. The scale makes observation harder, but it makes an unexpected situation equally difficult to control.
