02 / The place

Île de la Cité connects the first and fourth arrondissements through its quays, bridges and crossings from one bank to the other. Notre-Dame de Paris and the Sainte-Chapelle draw much of the public attention. Visitors, ceremonies and institutional activity impose a rhythm that leaves little room for improvisation.

For the Kindred of La Cour, the island is more than its monuments. It is a place of movement where any presence quickly becomes visible and an unusual journey can be noticed from several directions. Its value lies as much in what it represents as in the access it organises. No nocturnal use can therefore ignore the residents, public officials or the scrutiny of those passing through the area.
