PARIS / NIGHT SOCIETY

Antagonists

A threat has a history, resources and limits. Understanding comes before retaliation.

01 / Sect / doctrine and practices

The Sabbat: a war that binds the group

The Sabbat gives its war a religious and political justification. Its members do not see themselves as ordinary nocturnal criminals. They oppose an order they consider doomed and may read compromise as spiritual defeat. This conviction does not impose identical conduct on every pack: the value of territory, patience and methods remains disputed.

Vaulderie is a collective rite; Vinculum refers to the bonds it produces. This vocabulary belongs to the Sabbat but does not fully describe each member’s convictions. This page assigns no bond ratings, generations, Blood Potency or Disciplines. The register describes campaign forces, not stat blocks.

A pack is not a bestiary

A pack’s danger is not measured by strength alone. Shared conviction helps it withstand losses, experience reveals opponents’ habits, and ritual cohesion sustains costly commitments. Negotiation requires understanding what it can concede without denying what binds it together.

03 / An itinerant pack

Harbinger of Sade

The corpus describes a twelve-member pack joined by shared history and complementary functions. Its former master is gone; the group remains. This makes neither each member a pack leader nor the group a territorial government. Vassili Kirilenko leads this mobile pack.

Their presence gives a conflict continuity that one individual’s disappearance cannot end. The pack matters collectively: its skills are not interchangeable and its future does not follow automatic succession.

04 / Roussillon / distinct poles

Perpignan: three packs, no crown

Mateu Ferrer represents strategic continuity: maintaining a position the Camarilla cannot easily close off. Mercè Vidal embodies a religious, militant conception of the Sabbat; territory should serve the struggle, not become a small principality. Noé Serrat sees mobility as a possible response to human pressure. His clan is not stated in the source and is not assigned here.

These three poles have no proper pack names in the passages retained. They are identified by their representative figures. An agreement with one does not bind the other two. The Harbinger are neither their government nor their superior command. Visiting groups do not justify inventing a fourth permanent pack.

05 / Presence / influence / sovereignty

Passing through is not ruling

France la Nuit explicitly distinguishes the Harbinger’s past use of the Rhône corridor from Sabbat government in Lyon. Possible presence is treated as a transit threat. Crossing a domain, having a contact there or conducting an action does not establish ownership of the city. The same caution applies to visiting groups in Roussillon.

06 / Intelligence and vulnerability

Human pressure

In Perpignan, Second Inquisition pressure can make a large reconquest too conspicuous. This may benefit the Sabbat without providing intentional protection: hunters remain hostile to vampires they identify. A tactical consequence is not an alliance. In Paris, contradictions among human organisations must be examined without attributing every incident to one plan.

07 / Play proposals / not a chronology

Before responding to a threat

Play proposal: negotiations succeed, but the group concluding them has no authority over the vampires arriving the next night. Characters must decide whether this is betrayal, a mistaken interlocutor or genuine fragmentation. Another proposal: a Sabbat rumour accompanies an ordinary incident. Fear prompts authorities into a response that exposes the city more than the incident itself.
