Occitania / City of the Court
Carcassonne
Memory belongs to no one, but everyone answers for what they do with it.
The fortified Cité dominates representations, but the night also unfolds in the Bastide, Trivalle, around the Aude, canal and station. Tourism supplies flows; the small permanent population nevertheless makes repeated predation highly visible.

The Viguier
The Right of the Bridge locally suspends a dispute during recognised passage. It reconciles no one and does not protect anyone who uses the truce to prepare an attack.

Isabeau Ferrand and the Viguerie
Isabeau Ferrand, Viguière of Carcassonne, exercises judicial authority first. She recognises customs, interprets precedents, arbitrates rights and represents the city. Her ability to establish that a case has already been decided carries more weight than an order based on ownership of the domain. The Viguerie does not own Carcassonne: it preserves a decisive part of its legal memory.

Cité, Bastide and Trivalle
The fortified skyline does not describe the whole domain. The Bastide carries everyday city life; Trivalle receives travellers and intermediaries. Messengers, familiars, ghouls and visitors meet people able to relay a request without immediately turning it into a formal audience. The neighbourhood is not therefore neutral or exempt from local rights.

Requesting the Bridge
A vampire recognised in the domain may request a temporary suspension of a conflict so the case can be heard. If the Bridge is opened, the parties receive one night without direct violence between them. This is neither an Elysium nor supernatural protection. Opening it is not automatic; once granted, the agreement binds those who accepted it. Using it to prepare an attack destroys the trust that makes the custom possible.

Hosting the Court
The sovereigns’ arrival increases audiences, hunting needs and demands for discretion. Local authority retains ordinary governance and negotiates the resources committed.
